When parts of production are to be relocated abroad, I step into the business for a few months and get the job done — because I know how to get up to speed fast, lead people and improve processes. A leader for hire. A professional who has deliberately chosen to lead on a temporary basis.
To some, interim managers are rescuers in a crisis; to others, temps in pinstripes. Ad interim — 'in the meantime': a temporary form of leadership that modern 21st-century companies can no longer do without. Whether merger, restructuring, turnaround, controlling or earnings improvement — the interim manager takes results responsibility in a line role.
